Best Practices

Abigail and Dolley Blogspot is dedicated to exploring the logic and the facts behind issues of the day. So let us endeavor into another corporate buzzword that has been adopted into our lexicon. Best Practices - this one perhaps embodies a degree of common sense that others of its ilk have not done. It is not terribly fancy sounding and I seriously doubt that anyone uses it to make themselves look smart. Our Government and Corporate America are full of blowhard pretenders that hide their minimal intelligence and incompetance behind veils constructed of the latest catch phrases, can you say "Customer Centric" or "Social Justice"? In the case of Best Practices, though, the principal and thought behind it is actually not far fetched and for once, makes sense.

In all affairs; personal, professional, and governmental the examination of what works and what does not is nothing more than common sense. Why then do so many disregard this basic premise and proceed willy nilly down a path of failure or worse one of complete destruction? My Mother has a saying, "Those who do not listen, must feel." She is of course very wise in this regard.

It is frustrating to watch a loved one go down the wrong path, specifically if you yourself have recently done the same and tried to warn them of the pending outcome. It is nerve wracking to watch your company go down paths of futility and usually send me on a job search.

In the public arena where the stakes are higher and the costs are immeasurable we have an entire political class that constantly and consistently leads our local, state, and national government down the road to ruin. Our government is no longer concerned with doing things well and more concerned with doing things their own way. These ineffective measures have bankrupted us at all levels. We can no longer afford their arrogance and complete disregard for what actually works.

Economic stimulus - taxes and government spending have NEVER worked. Tax cuts and putting money in the hands of taxpayers and corporations have ALWAYS worked. Why are we doing the opposite?

Health Care - in states that have eased regulation on insurance companies, instituted tort reform, promoted medical savings accounts, allowed collective buying for small business, and fostered an environment of competition and free market - they are successful. Socialized and heavily regulated medicine are DISMAL failures. Why are we trying to choose the path of failure?

Environmental - common sense stewardship of the Earth, with Man in his proper place as Master and Caretaker of the Planet and not the subject of it leads to growth, prosperity, and a betterment of our World. Illogical is the idealogy that says that Man is subject to the Earth and Human concerns must always take a back seat to the needs of the Earth. This policy can be seen in full display in the absolute destruction of the Timber Industry in Oregon and Washington. Decreased numbers of the all important Spotted Owl took precedence over the lifes and welfare of human beings. The richest and most prosperous counties in the two states a decade ago now host 25% unemployment and are now the poorest. That in and of itself is a tragedy, but when you find out the Timber Industry had NOTHING to do with the Spotted Owls decline in numbers it borders on criminal. Yes, folks, the Spotted Owl is being killed by a bigger, stronger, meaner owl - yet the Timber Industry remains idle and our people remain unemployed and the human suffering that goes with the debacle is immeasurable.

Show me what works and do that! Is it too much to demand from our elected officials that they stop the waste, the favors, the pay offs and actually do what works and what is right?

Small Town America and Why We Still Matter

Abigail and Dolley readers, I went to a reunion yesterday.  Not a family reunion, but an Small Town American reunion.  A gathering of folks who grew up and around a small mill town on the outskirts of Charlotte.  These days there is little difference between Pineville and Charlotte, but for those of us who grew up there, we know the difference.  We remember the landmarks that are no longer there, we "Awwed" audibly when pictures of loved ones flashed on the screen during the memorial CD, we smiled at the pictures of the wild Southern boys and their jacked up muscle cars, but most of all we were happy to see each other and took pride in our heritage.

Now, the ruling classes and the liberal elite would have looked upon this group with contempt.  You see we were in cut off shorts and T-shirts, we sang all the words to Sweet Home Alabama, and we raised our cups to lost friends and good times.  We laughed at old stories, complained that we were still smoking and knew we should quit, and talked about our kids, grandkids, and small businesses.  What the ruling class forgets is that these are the people that fix your cars, build your houses, and work in your factories.  They are the back bone of this Country and will show up with a casserole when someone passes away, a tow to pull your car out of a ditch, and money to bail you out of whatever trouble you've gotten yourself into.

Their pride in their country is held in contempt by the liberal elitists who scorn their patriotism and hate this country.  Their accents render them unintelligent in the eyes of the country club Republicans.  Their faith is scorned by the academics that are too smart for God.  They are Southern, so they must be racist, say the mainstream media.  I say, they are wrong again.  These are the people that built this country, their blood ran on the battlefields of history, their sweat plowed the fields, and their hands built the products that changed the world.

These are now the people who are muzzled and stifled by an over bearing government that makes it too difficult for the common man to start a business.  These are the folks whose factories have shut down because regulators required too many expensive "safety" upgrades (for their own good, of course.) and taxed "the rich" at such a rate they could no longer afford to do business in this country.  These are the folks that used to build your house, clean your gutters, and mow your lawn but now can't find work because there are illegal aliens that will do that job "under the table".  These are the people who teeter on the edge now because the work is gone and the horizon is bleak.  These are the people who recognize that when you talk about "the rich" you are really talking about their employers and they know their jobs won't be coming back until the government stops taking their bosses money at an alarming rate.

These are the people that loved Ronald Reagan and "hoped" Obama would live up to his promises of a "change".  In the immortal words of George W Bush, "You fool me once.... wait hang on.  Well, if you fool me once then, you aren't gonna fool me again."

Long live small town America!  Enjoy the video.

I Love It When God Does Stuff Like This

I love when God uses His sense of humor.  Nothing stuck my funny bone more in the last few days than the latest debacle in LA. It seems there is a new $75 million dollar school dedicated to the Green Religion (can I bring suit against them for preaching their religion in public schools?) that has been named after Al Gore and Rachel Carson. The hysterical part is that it is sitting on toxic soil!  Rachel Carson is responsible for the ban on DDT and thus responsible for the murder of millions through malaria.  See the article from a few days ago! We all know Mr. Bozo Ozone Man and all the damage his bloated bloviating mouth has done.

Anyway, I was going to say it was ironic, but as Gutfield says in the below video that is not really accurate.  Fitting is more like it.  I think God said, okay folks, you won't post my Commandments or let my kids pray in school but you will erect a monument to "Gaya", take that!

Bring Back DDT - How the Green Religion is Killing People

Abigail and Dolley readers I am not a scientist or an entomologist.  Heck, I think I know the word entomology from watching CSI and Bones!  I first became aware of the DDT ban and devastating effects to the 3rd World and the bed bug explosion several years ago.  A group of my friends went to a brand new hotel at the beach and ran into them.  It was horrible!  They were all completely freaked out and even I (who was not on the trip) became obsessed with these nasty blood sucking creatures.  Being "Dolley", I of course started doing a bunch of research.

I actually came across this video from Stossel while doing Global Warming research, but it is an excellent example of how junk science adopted for political purposes can cost you a fortune, but more important contribute to the deaths of innocent people.  The portion about DDT starts about 1:40.

I have written extensively on the Religion of Environmentalist and if you care to check out back posts that link will take you to my musings on the subject.  Let it be sufficient to say that at their core, Environmentalist love the Earth and hate you.  You consume resources and your very breath is pollution and destruction.  That is their worldview.  Thus, it should not surprise anyone to learn that, one Environmentalist admitted that the primary problem with DDT is that it reduced the incidence of malaria in the developing world and thus increased the population.

That's right folks, it wasn't the safety of the chemical it was "Big Environment" deciding that kids in Sri Lanka did not deserve to live.  60 million people have died of malaria since 1972 because of the ban on DDT, that is 10 times more than died in the Holocaust.  Many of these deaths were children... as a Mother I can not imagine the horror of 1 let alone 60 million.

Now we have Bed Bugs and God forgive me, but I hope they invade every environmentalist home in the country.  I hope these nasty critters suck the blood from these Greenies as they have most certainly played a role in the deaths of these innocent people.  They will sing a different tune if it is THEIR children waking up with bites and thousands of dollars of extermination bills and loss of bedding, clothing, and carpets.  This is small in comparison to the mother in Africa whose child won't wake up ever again.

Perhaps it takes a bit of discomfort in our own lives for us to wake up and realize that we need to undo an egregious error.  We need to bring back one of the safest, cost effective, and efficient pesticides known to man.  Kill the bed bugs and kill the mosquitoes!  BRING BACK DDT!

Facts and research for this blog came from the below sources.  I encourage you to do your own investigation:

It's SO Hot! Yeah, Right.

In spite of Climate gate, in spite of freezing temperatures, in spite of the biggest increase in Arctic Ice in 50 years, in spite of all the evidence of fraud, scam, and political maneuvering Climate Scientist are still insisting on Global Warming.   See this Fox News Story!

Why?  Two reasons - Money and Faith.

Follow the money - Climate research funding has gone from pennies to millions in two decades, these scientists do not want to loose the goose that laid the golden egg.

Follow the religion - the Religious Left can not accept the premise that THEY are not in control of what is happening on the Earth, because if this is just natural and they aren't the center of it, their faith is rocked.

I think the Earth is in the hands of the One who made it and He regularly takes care of His Creation.

I hope in the end, reason and prudence wins the day - that indeed would be a victory.

The Religion of Environmentalism

Abigail and Dolley readers may recall another blog I wrote on this subject, The Green Movement.  Today, I will examine the duped Environmentalist and through a fictional debate, show the unsuspecting, the truth behind their Religious Left beliefs.

Dolley:  What role does God play in Environmentalism?
Greenie:  What do you mean?
Dolley:  I mean do you believe in a Creator that regularly tends to His creation?
Greenie:  A Creator? Well no, all the evidence proves that we got here by evolution.  Before you go getting all crazy on me, I do believe in a higher power and God of the universe.
Dolley:  So you believe that god is in the earth?
Greenie:  Yes, that's it exactly and as members of the universe have to take care of the earth.
Dolley:  So, what you are saying is that you have to take care of god?
Greenie:  (Sigh) We don't believe in god that way, but in essence yes.
Dolley:  Since you believe that man was part of evolution, are humans on the same level as other creatures?
Greenie:  Actually, humans are the destroyers of the earth and are by their behavior less than other creatures.
Dolley:  What do you feel is the greatest threat today to the earth?
Greenie:  Pollution, development, industry - we are destroying the earth.
Dolley:  So do you think we should "decivilize"?
Greenie:  Ideally, yes.
Dolley:  Do you believe the earth was best when man lived in caves and hunted and gathered?
Greenie:  Sure, of course.
Dolley:  What would you say to me if I told you that Global Warming was a hoax?
Greenie:  I would say you are ignorant of the truth and need to be educated.
Dolley:  What if I refused to believe your education and insisted on living the way I chose?
Greenie:  Well then, we would be forced to pass laws and make you conform.
Dolley:  So if I understand this correctly, you do not believe in a Creator that regularly tends to His creation.  You worship the god of the universe who requires you to take care of it.  You believe that humans are an accident and the biggest threat to the earth and that all vestige of civilization should be wiped out to return to the perfect environmental state.  If I do not believe you, you will just legislate my compliance with your religion.
Greenie:  I don't like the way you make it sound, but yes, we must protect the earth and take you along kicking and screaming if we have to.

Would such an exchange ever take place?  No, because most environmentalists would not answer the questions in a straight forward manner.  They would dodge, misdirect, and name call.  The question remains, if the above true, is it an accurate representation of their beliefs?  I believe it is.

The environmentalist reject God of the Bible.  My God is all powerful and the maker of this earth.  My God loved me so much, he died on the cross for me as penalty for my sin.  The environmentalist god demands that its subject serve it.  Their god is weak and must be cared for at all costs.  My God created the Heavens and the Earth.  My God created man in His image and gave him dominion over the earth.  The environmentalist believes that man is a scourge upon the earth and the destroyer thereof.  My God gives and inspires innovation and invention that improve the plight of man on this earth, through drugs, safety, transportation, electricity, comfort, and long life.  The environmentalist god says that all of these things are bad and must be dismantled.  My God says, "Come to me all you who are burdened and I will give you rest, for my burden is light and my load is easy" and "For God so loved the earth, that He gave is only begotten Son, that whosoever that believith in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life."  The environmentalist god proclaims that if you don't believe in me I will force you, for your own good, of course.

Which do you choose?

The Religious Left

Abigail and Dolley readers - I have to give credit to my fellow blogger, Bloviating Zeppelin for coining the phrase, Religious Left.  It resonated with me tremendously and in the way a beautifully turned phrase can do, summarizes and clearly defines the object and essence of the subject.

Follow this link, Cambridge Plans to Fight Global Warming "Emergency" .  This is clearly a story about the Religious Left gone wild in the name of the "Global Warming Emergency".  The zealots are as fanatical and dangerous as any devoted cult, and they are creating policy and influencing public behavior.

The cultural wars are now clearly defined and at some point in the future everyone in America will need to choose their side.

Where will you fall - with the traditions this country was founded upon and embodied by the Conservative "Religious" Right or with the secular humanist, vegans, and socialists on the Progressive "Religious" Left?

World View and the Importance of Understanding What That Means

World View - how one sees the world, a system of beliefs that one holds regarding this world and beyond.  The filter through which human beings process events, circumstances, and actions.

Understanding your own world view and that of other people is crucial to predicting behavior and explaining motivations and actions.  If you understand how a person views the world then you have a clear understanding of what is driving them.  Without grasping this concept about ourselves and others we are likely to be tossed about on the sea of uncertainty when it comes to critical analysis of why people behave the way they do.  It is particularly important for us to understand the world view of the leaders we elect to office.  If you understand what is driving them, you will not be mislead by clever words and empty promises.

Let us examine some of the common political world views in our society today:

The Victim - this defeated person see the world through a victim's eyes.  They have been wronged and somebody needs to make it right.  This group is fed upon by self serving politicians and exploiters who seek to give the victim validation and a token hand out in exchange for their loyalty and support.

The Environmentalist - this person holds that the Earth is the center of the universe and must be served by man.  This all consuming world view leads to vehement defense of any action or policy that is seen to "harm" their belief system.  They by and large view humans as locust destroying the planet and the concerns of man take a back seat to what is good for Mother Earth.

The "Liberal" Progressive - this person holds that man is perfectible through social engineering and government policy.  As such, individual freedom and responsibility are not considerations in decision making.  The collective is the mechanism for which meaningful change can and must occur.  Social justice, wealth redistribution, and centralized control are all goals and views of the liberal progressive.

The Libertarian - the libertarian views all government with skepticism and rejects social engineering and policy from governmental sources.  They typically disagree with any laws that deal with personal behavior and choices ie assisted suicide laws, gay marriage, abortion, legalized drugs.  These are all areas that Libertarians believe are outside of the purview of the government and should not be legislated.

The "Conservative" Progressive - Also called the Neo-Cons, these are big government, globalist who believe that spreading American influence through preemptive war and the UN.  They ultimately believe in the superiority of the state and the implementation of large governmental controls of individual's life.

The Constitutionalists -  this Conservative worldview is making a huge resurgence in American culture.  Largely lost by the American public since the turn of the 20th century, this group views the world and the government from a Founder's perspective.  Government is viewed as a necessary mechanism for a civil society but must be constrained and contained within the parameters and borders set fourth by the Founding Fathers.

To some extent or the other, you must look at each of these worldviews and follow them to their natural and historical conclusions.  By doing so, you can determine which world view ending you want to see.

The Victim - slavery, poverty, hopelessness, dependence
The Environmentalist - demodernization, reduced standards of living (no cars, planes, electricity, chemicals)
The Liberal Progressive - complete state control and removal of all who stand in the way of perfecting society.
The Libertarian - a breakdown in the moral fabric of the country that ultimately leads to unrestrained personal behavior.
The Conservative Progressive - unending war, massive debt, massive expansion of government.
The Constitutionalists - limited and restrained government, fiscal responsibly, economic and personal freedoms.  Defined separation and balance of powers.

Hmm.... which one are you?  Which one should you be?  Which one are our leaders and what does that tell you about them?

Finally, Something I Can Agree With the President On!

You might not know it from reading this blog, but I actually am quite a peacemaker and strive greatly in my interpersonal relationships to get along with people.  As such, it has been disconcerting to me to constantly be at odds with the President of the United States.  I must constantly examine myself to insure that I am opposing policy and not just the man.  I criticized others for doing that to GWB and refuse to put on partisan blinders that will skew my view of the actions of the President.

Thus, I am encouraged by the latest proposal to guarantee $54 B in loans for new nuclear power plants.  My father, who is a brilliant engineer, worked at a nuclear facility for several years.  He is an ardent supporter of nuclear power and he and I have had many discussions about this subject.  Nuclear power is cost effective, safe, and efficient.  The environmental impact is negligible and because these are loan guarantees and not government spending, I can get behind this measure as a fiscal conservative.

Honestly, not to throw a cold bucket of water on this Kum Bah Yah moment I am having with the President, but I find this move incongruous with the administrations decision earlier this year to close the Yuka Mountain Nuclear waste facility.  The Energy Equivalent to Guantanamo Bay, the Yuka Mountain facility is a hugely expensive (and paid for my you, the American Tax payer for decades) efficient facility to permanent storage of the waste created by nuclear power.  I am republishing a piece that I wrote several months ago when this closing occurred for your information and edification.

Thanks for reading and your support!

Energy Fascists

The below provides the back ground to the Yuka Mountain Facility and I originally published this several months ago.

Fascism... the phrase is thrown around so lightly these days that I believe in order to support the title, I must define the word.  Abigail and Dolley readers know that while some posts may be tongue in cheek, most are well reasoned works by thoughtful individuals, the rest are written by me.  (There's that tongue in cheek thing again...)

Merriman's Online Dictionary defines fascist as: a political philosophy, movement, or regime (as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition.

According to your worldview or political philosophy you will infer what you wish to our present leadership and circumstances.  I submit to you an example of such fascism as displayed this week by the closing of the Yuka Mountain Nuclear Waste storage facility.  William La Jeunesse wrote a great piece on this and I encourage you to read the article.

Basically, it boils down to this:  Nuclear energy is the cleanest, safest, greenest, abundant, renewable energy source in the world.  It is just not politically popular.  This bad rap is not based on facts, but irrational fear and Hollywood hype.  It is the ultimate in green energy, yet it is shunned in favor of expensive windmills that kill tens of thousands of birds a year, solar farms that are an eyesore, and other "green" solutions that costs 10, 20, 50, 200% more per power unit than nuclear power.

For decades, the Federal Government has been charging every household in America an excise tax on your power bill to pay for a nuclear waste disposal facility in the middle of no where.  The Obama Administration has decided to close the Yuka Mountain facility leaving the nation without a place to store it's nuclear waste.

Do I sense a little "nudge" from the Obama crowd?  What happens to all the waste currently being produced?  Doesn't that sound unreasonable to you, to close a billion dollar facility with no alternative?  Could their motive be to shut down nuclear power in the USA?  Could their motive be a way to force power companies to raise rates and thus open the way for government to intervene against the evil power companies?  Could their motive be to force the cap and trade bill though the Congress by demonizing electric companies who endanger the public with their dangerous nuclear waste?  Could they intervene through the take over of health care and declare nuclear power a danger to our health?  What about intervening from a National Security perspective since the power companies must now protect nuclear material?

Let's review:

fascist as: a political philosophy, movement, or regime (as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition.

Dinosaurs and the New Earth

This is another one of those posts, where the subject is so broad and the discussion so involved I could write a book, so for the sake of focus and brevity, I will examine one small area - Dinosaurs.

Right off the bat, I will admit I am a skeptic of modern scientific "consensus" in many areas.  Abigail and Dolley readers know I beat the drum of Global Warming is a hoax on a regular basis, but there is another "established" fact that I completely disagree with and that is the old earth and evolution.

I believe that the Earth is about 6000 years old and that about 4400 years ago there was a flood.  I believe that man and dinosaurs shared the Earth.  Uh oh, many of you are saying....Dolley has stepped off the deep end on this one, but bear with me on this one, hear me out and then make your decision.  After all, you know that Global Warming Disciples are sorely mislead; who is to say "Old Earthers" and "Evolutionist" are not equally as wrong?

My worldview is such that I take what the Bible says and sift modern "science" and attitudes and culture through the Bible as a filter.  If they pass the Bible test I keep them, if they flunk the Bible test they are tossed in the waste basket with yesterday's garbage.  The Bible is eternal it is perfect, timeless, and trustworthy - I can not say the same for man made ideas and attitudes, can you?

The beauty of this whole debate though, is that you don't have to be a believer to see the complete breakdown in current scientific methods when applied through the filter of rational and logical thoughts.  You may choose to formulate a different rationale than the conclusion I get from the Word, but that is definitely your choice.

Consider this:

If the earth is indeed billions and billions of years old and dinosaurs lived billions and billions of years ago, then how is it that scientists have found blood vessels, blood cells, and soft tissue in dinosaur bones?
(http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/7285683/) or see video embedded below.

Scientist can not explain how these can still be present.  Some recent specimens found appear to be "fresh" bones and there is a layer of soft tissue still in tact.

There have been recent discoveries of Dinosaur skin, irronically, the skin seems to have circular shapes on it like many ancient drawings and cave paintings.  How did those cave dwellers know about the circular patterns on the dinosaur skin if they had never seen one?

Life span on the Earth prior to the flood was about 900 years.  (See Genesis)  Since reptiles never stop growing*, is it possible that species of reptiles grew giant during their lifetimes?  (*Holt Earth Science 1991 pg. 293)

Two types of dinosaurs are mentioned in the Bible - the Leviathon and the Behemouth, perhaps what we know today as the Brachiosaurus and either a Dragon or a T-Rex.

Job 40:15-24 the Brachiosaurus from the Bible -(this is a cool link using the description of Behemouth to footage of Jurassic Park.  The embedded video is disabled, but the hyperlink will take you to it)

15 Behold now Behemoth, which I made along with you; He eats grass like an ox.
16 Behold his strength in his loins
And the power in his stomach muscles.
17 His tail sways like a cedar;
The sinews of his thighs are knit together.
18 His bones are tubes of bronze;
His limbs are like bars of iron.

Job 41 Describes the Leviathon - does this sound like a fire breathing Dragon to you?
12 “I want to emphasize Leviathan’s limbs
and its enormous strength and graceful form.
13 Who can strip off its hide,
and who can penetrate its double layer of armor?[d]
14 Who could pry open its jaws?
      For its teeth are terrible!
15 Its scales are like rows of shields
      tightly sealed together.
16 They are so close together
that no air can get between them.
17 Each scale sticks tight to the next.
They interlock and cannot be penetrated.
18 “When it sneezes, it flashes light!
Its eyes are like the red of dawn.
 19 Lightning leaps from its mouth;
      flames of fire flash out.
20 Smoke streams from its nostrils
like steam from a pot heated over burning rushes.
21 Its breath would kindle coals,
for flames shoot from its mouth.

Do I believe Dragons and Dinosaurs lived on the Earth at the same time as man?  Yes, I do.  There are thousands of illustrations of them in art, ancient and up until the 1500's.  There are hundreds of legends about dragons across cultures of the world.  There are carvings of dinosaurs on swords, caves, pottery.  There are figurines throughout the globe of ancient dinosaurs.  There are legends, drawings, and stories about sea serpents and giant creatures.  There are currently today giant squid and octopus weighing tons and measuring over 150 feet.  The Congo Swamps perhaps host living dinosaurs today.  Have you watched a Loch Ness Monster special lately?  To date there have been 11,000 reported sightings of "Nessie".

Notice in this video and the one below, the scientist just don't know what to do with the evidence before them because it does not fit their preconceived theory.  True scientists would accept evidence over theory and throw out the theory instead of the evidence.  Evolution like global warming is a religion, yet we accept this as if it is fact.  Do your own research, look into creation science - haven't you had one side of this argument ad naseum?

Even if you don't believe in God, check out the science of Creationism, and see where it takes you.

If Man Made Global Warming is True....

If Man Made Global Warming is true and it is caused by Co2 emissions in the atmosphere from industrialization, which decade was warmer the 1930's or the 1940's?

Let's think - the 1930's were the Great Depression - lot's of government spending - huge debts - no jobs or industry.  Not a whole lot going on in the industrialized world.

Fast forward to the 1940's - massive industrialization to boost the war effort, pollution, bombing, nuclear explosions, post war boom, cars, factories and explosion in Co2 emissions.

The current "consensus" says that the 1940's should be much hotter than the 30's, but the exact opposite is true.  The 1930's were markedly hotter.  As a matter of fact in the post war 1940-1980 the earth cooled, so much so that the scientists proclaimed a new "Ice Age".

I am no climate scientist, but whenever I see inverse correlations, I begin to doubt the conclusions of scientists that disregard the facts.

The Winter Party

Political Correctness - I truly despise it.  I think it homogenizes everything and has made us a bunch of soft mushy people who are afraid to speak the truth.  Thus, when I received the message earlier this week that my son's Third Grade class was have a Winter Party, I wanted to scream.  It's not even a Holiday Party for goodness sake.  How did this Christian Nation get here?  I will tell you how, one small step at a time.

I am going to pretend I didn't see the memo, you see, I would much rather ask for forgiveness than permission.  So Merry CHRISTmas folks, pray for me that I am able to organize this party and still stay faithful for the reason for the season.

Stuck on A Course of Action

Have you ever determined a course of action to later find out it was incorrect?  I think we all have been faced with that situation at one time or another.  The content of your character is largely determined by your actions once you discover you were wrong.  An honorable person will reverse course, admit the mistake, apologize to those he has wronged if applicable, learn the lesson, and proceed forward.  A dishonorable person will persist along the wrong course because to do otherwise is to admit a mistake, to do otherwise may harm his "cause".  A dishonorable person will make the wrong decisions and not care who gets hurt along the way.

Such is now the case with the Copenhagen Climate Summit - the course of action our world leaders take in this regard, will in large part determine their Honor.  Will they acknowledge that there are serious questions about Man Made Global Impact or will they proceed down the path that has been clearly demonstrated as wrong?  I believe that the content and the character of each leader will be determined by how they proceed.

Sadly, the duly elected President of the United States of America, Barrack Hussein Obama has indicated he will proceed down the wrong path, once again putting on full display his lack of honor and intellectual courage, his lack of personal convictions of right and wrong, his inability to admit a mistake, his unwillingness to abandon the cause that leads to the ultimate end of total governmental control of the country and the world.  Once again, the Narcissist Obama makes the wrong decision and to hell with the consequences.

Oh, Greenie! What Now?

Abigail and Dolley readers know I have been beating the "Global Warming is a Fraud" drum for a while now.  If you check out the Environment/Global Warming tags, you can read to your hearts content.

In light of the developing scandal with the Climate-gate emails, I feel slight relief that perhaps the tides will begin to change.  But the question really remains will it matter to the zealots?  These emails show fraud, cover up, intimidation, character assassination, extortion, manipulation and out right devious disregard for proper science in regards to the "evidence" for Global Warming by the lead Scientists driving this whole hoax - but will it matter?

  • It doesn't seem to matter to the Lame Stream Media in the USA.
  • It doesn't seem to matter to the President of the United States as he prepares to go to Copenhagen for a Global Warming Summit.
  • It doesn't seem to matter to Al Gore, High Priest, of Global Warming

I believe it doesn't matter to any of the above folks, because they knew it was a lie to begin with.  Global Warming is not about taking care of the Earth - it's about money, power, and control.  Pure and simple.

But what about the devotee'?  Where is the little Tree Hugger in all this scandal and corruption?  They must be shaken to the core, because the Environment is no longer just a cause - the Environment is many people's religion.  Where does that leave them?  If man's actions aren't causing Earth changes then a major tenant of their faith is destroyed.  What now, Greenie?  I am sure there are more causes and I am sure there are many more things to champion, but before you move on to something else, ask yourself this question:

What if I stopped trying to believe in others, who will change and lie and manipulate?  What if I stopped trying to find the answers to all of life's hard questions and rested for a moment?  What if in that moment, a still small voice, that has been ignored for so long, was finally once again heard, and it said, "Come to me, all ye who are burdened and heavy laden, and I will give you rest, for my burden is light and my shoulders are strong.  Come child and let me hold you.  I know you are tired.  I love you, won't you let me in?"

This time, what if you did?

It Has to Be Manmade, Because If it Isn't.....

Global Warming, Climate Change, or whatever they are calling it this month (always to suit their political ambitions, goals and the temperature of the day) HAS to be man made, because if it isn't then the consequences are devastating to the believer.  Abigail and Dolley readers know that if you base your world view on a system of beliefs that turns out to be false, then you are shattered at the realization.  All of our beliefs, actions, goals, and dream are formed and shaped by how we view the world.  If we have put our faith in a worldview that turns out to be false, then our entire existence becomes meaningless.  Everything we have worked for and believed in was based on a lie and we are diminished in our own eyes as well as the eyes of the world.

Thus, in spite of what hundreds of scientists are proving, despite what even the most simple minded troglodyte can observe out their back porch, and in spite of the exposure of greed and capital gain that green leaders stand to make from green energy, the staunch environmentalist will not change their mind.  To do so will destroy their soul.  It will nullify their beliefs, their lives, and call into question their ultimate belief and worship of the earth.  They will stand in the face of overwhelming evidence and shout you down.  You are a heretic, a hypocrite, and a blasphemer.  They will not change, they will not concede, and they will not ever stop.

Tyrannical and fascist Islam shares the same goals and end game with the environmentalist. Take over of the world, conversion of its inhabitants, death to the infidels, global government and control.  Their methods and ideologies differ only in their Utopian visions of earth.  One comes with a gun and a bomb - the other with laws and regulations that will collapse and strangle the system into submission.  Both must be fought with equal fervor, both are a danger to our liberty, society, and our freedom.  The difference is one is wearing a suit and flying to Copenhagen for a conference and the other is building nuclear facilities and stoning women and protesters in the street.

Obama has unclenched his fist at the one and is participating with the other.

Truth - It is Time to Start Talking Again

Abigail and Dolley readers have come to expect critical thinking and logical presentation of facts in all of our commentaries, so let's talk about some hot button issues.  The Attorney General of the United States said that Americans did not have the guts to talk about racism today.  I think he is perhaps correct, but not because we are cowards and all racists at heart.  I believe he threw that out knowing that in March of 2009, we would not engage.  I believe in March, he was right.  I believe in September, he will be proven wrong.

For the past few decades, we as a people have been told not to critically discuss issues amongst ourselves that would cause disagreements and lead to fiery debate.  You know the adage and the admonition that you should not discuss politics or religion and let us not forget the untouchable subject of racism.

I must ask though, are we better off as a nation and a people because we are so "civil" to each other or have we lost one of the things that made us fundamentally alive?  What happens to a people when they stop discussing the most important issues of our day?  I believe we stop being a people that will speak the truth and are poorer in spirit for it.  I believe that each of us begins to create our own realities based on our feelings and not the facts.  I believe we will make for ourselves political ideologies and spiritual truths that are not well grounded in truth, but instead a collection of our own personal conclusions.  We hold on to these personal convictions and because we live in a society that does not demand we defend our convictions in a logical manner, we are left with half formed gushy convictions that do not serve us or society well.  We become offended and defensive when someone questions us or challenges us about these personal truths.  When forced to defend them, we feel personally attacked.  We do not like coming out of our comfort zone and will gather around ourselves like minded people who condemn the questioner or challenger instead of defending our convictions.

Absolute truth has been stripped of its ability and purpose to cleave between bone and sinew, to separate the facts from the emotions.  The rejection of absolute truth as a building block and premise of civil society has the effect of denigrating the society to a group of  wishy washy citizens easily led down the path of what feels good.  Absolute truth though, does not change based on your feelings, see it is stronger than our rationales, it does not alter with the political or social climate of the times.  Absolute truth remains a bulwark against our own personal suppositions.

Absolute truth stands boldly before failed ideology and calls it out.  I can feel the bristling out there, but you must choose, if we are to continue living in a civil society, we MUST choose.  Let us take some obvious examples - Murder is wrong.  Absolute truth, right?  But is it in our society still?  Or do we have circumstantial rationale for even that?  Having sex with children is wrong.  But some will say, that is just the way I am and it is okay for me.  How about cheating on a test?  What about lying?  What about adultery?  Today, we can come up with scenarios that excuse all or most of this behavior.  Is it any wonder then, that we are rejecting the foundations of our Republic and leaning toward the mob rule of Democracy?  Law says something is bad and forbidden, man can rationalize the behavior and we are much more comfortable with that.

We see this today in our political exchanges.  When we can not prove our point, we name call and ridicule.  Is there any more blaring case before us today than the Joe Wilson/Barack Obama tempest?  Joe Wilson's outburst was against etiquette, but he was right.  Once it was discovered that he was right, well then, he was called a racist.  What would have been so wrong about saying, you know, after we looked into it, the President had misspoke and here is what we are going to do about it.

Both sides decry the other when they are faced with the truth.  An honest person will concede.  I find that while doing that initially is painful, it leads to a wealth and a depth and a breadth of understanding I did not enjoy here to fore.  I am enriched when I realize I was mistaken and give the other person their due for presenting truth.  Why is that seen today as weakness?  It is strength of character and soundness of mind that recognizes and acknowledges our own fallibility. Weakness is actually holding on to false ideals when presented with logical facts to the contrary.

Ideology above facts or truth.  Win at all costs.  Name call and demean.  Lie about your opponent to suit your needs.  The ends justify the means.  You are a troglodyte stuck in an outmoded and outdated mind set.

Folks, it is time to engage.  It is time to stop being afraid of confrontation.  It is time to hold what you believe in up to the glaring light of the sun to determine if it can withstand the light of day.  After all, our convictions and faith, for which we base our lives must be able to stand up to scrutiny, otherwise we ourselves can not stand up to scrutiny.  That my friends is worse than being uncomfortable.

Death of the Two Party System?

Glen Beck hosted a two hour show 5/1/09 (60 minutes on his show and then the additional 60 minutes posted on the Internet). His audience was comprised of about 45 average Americans who attended the Tea Parties. I am one of them; that's how I see things, too.

Several things struck me in the show of hands poll that Glen Beck took at the beginning of the segment.

Who believes in the Two Party System - no one raised their hands.
Who is a reluctant activist - 2/3 raised their hands
Who is madder at the GOP than the Democrats because you expect this from the Democrats? the majority raised their hands.

Do you know what else struck me? That there is a ton of stuff all of these people believed in and not a whole lot they didn't agree on - but in the end their is no place for them in the Two Party System.

If there was a Dolley Madison party it would look like this:

Constitutionalists - purist and strict interpretation
Environmental Stewards - not insane Greenies or pollution happy capitalist pigs, just following the guideline of Genesis to be good stewards of the Earth.
Strong Military - but insist other countries stop being on the Trillion Dollar military welfare program.
Return to State and Local Government power and an abolition of unconstitutional Federal Government Programs, Departments, and Policies.
Fair and Flat Tax
Allow states to pass their own laws on abortion, speed limits, drinking age, and other areas where the Federal Government has usurped the state's authority to govern themselves.
Secure Borders and sensible immigration policies
Minimal Government regulations on business

So there you have it America, the launch of Dolley's Party, but I guess we will have to rename it because Patrick Henry would never join a party called Dolley, unless of course, he decides to become a metrosexual.

It's an American Thing, Stupid

The title of course is a play on the famous campaign slogan of Bill Clinton and James Carville, "It's the Economy Stupid". It was amazingly effective and delivered the White House to the Democrats for the first time in 12 years. It is time to move past the individual and driving force of how much money we have in our wallets. It is time to stop being consumed by one issue.

I believe though, that we as Americans are at a cross roads and that the lines delineated between us by the extremes on both sides will no longer be accepted. It is time for us to GROW UP and stop fighting about our labels.

It is time we recognize that our stated goals are much the same, though we differ in the manner and plan in which we want to achieve said goals. It is prudent to examine history and take a lesson from the success and the failures of the past, remember that "there is nothing new under the sun". Thus, the most alarming thing about what is going on in Washington is not the stated goals, but the manner in which we are pursuing them. The course of action we are taking in almost all areas has been proven ineffective, counterproductive, and dismal failures when tried in the past. Why then are we seeking to implement failed policies? I believe it is simply a matter of POWER. Stated goals and outcomes are not the real concern of the Washington bureaucrats, they want CONTROL. They want to decide what you do, how you do it, what you make, how you live, where you live, and they will not stop until they control and regulate every thing you do - see THEY know best. This taken to its logical conclusion is tyranny and the American Spirit will not abide the chains of slavery.

What do we need? We need Common Sense, we need Public Servants, we need the end of Politics and a return to the Principals of our Founding Fathers. Instead of Democrats and Republicans let us all become Constitutional Americans. These are the principals we can agree on:

Take care of the Helpless and stop funding and enabling the Clueless

Protect the Earth in a Common Sense manner

Peace through strength

Protect and close our borders - deport illegals

Educate our young people - train them in professions or send them to college

Any legislation, regulation or rule should have to pass Constitutional muster

Stop Judicial Activism

Stop wasteful spending

Remove and repeal rules and regulations that stifle business and job creation

Build safe and efficient nuclear power plants and allow access to the vast oil deposits in our country

Privatize government functions not authorized by the Constitution

Cut taxes

Balance the budget

Pay off our debt

Create a business environment that enables the American Spirit and Ingenuity to thrive - we have to start MAKING things.

Tell the rest of the world they will no longer have Military welfare - all of the countries in the world do not devote a huge percentage of their budget to defense, they rely on the USA to spend all the money and thus are on Military welfare - all nations must maintain adequate military defenses or start sending us money or forgiving debts owed them by our previous spending.

Term limit all government elected officials- this removes the permanent elite ruling class and motivates politicians to do the right thing for the country instead of the thing that gives them power.

These are American ideals and we need to stop fighting, stand together, and make the change. We must demand results from our legislators and other elected officials. We must no longer be disengaged from the public arena. We must stop with the prohibition to discuss religion and politics amongst ourselves. We must learn to engage one another with respect and intellect and common sense. We must stop tolerating lies, half truths, and spin from our partisans and elected leaders and demand honesty and candor. It is time for us all to stop being partisan and start being Americans. If we fail to do these things we will sink into the ranks of the once great Republics that could not hold on to the ideals that made them great to begin with.

I for one, choose to fight for the America I believe in. Will you?

The Green Movement - The Marriage of Envirnomentalist and Anarchist

This was a particularly hard Abigail and Dolley post to write since it deals with an aspect of life that most people will go through their entire lives without considering.  This post deals with the Super Natural and how events in the invisible world effect the visible one.

The Green Movement; are these well meaning folks, concerned with the Earth and the environment or are they something more sinister? Would you believe me if I told you both? A year ago, I would have scoffed at such a conspiratorial supposition. "Tree Huggers" are a bit misguided, but dangerous? The hippies of the 60's are now running the show and if you recall there were two types - the ones that promoted peace, love, and lots of drugs and the ones that blew stuff up, killed people, and robbed banks. Well, they found each other in the hippie retirement home and got married. They now go by the name Mr. and Mrs. Green.

To fully understand, you have to start at the beginning. This story begins in a garden. A place of perfection and an Environmentalist wildest dream. You see, love of the Earth and protection of the environment is nothing new. Human kind was created in part to be the caretaker of this planet, this was instilled in us by God in the Garden of Eden; it is hard coded into our DNA. He also instilled within us a desire to commune with Him, to walk with Him in the cool of the day. Some invite and allow God to occupy that space inside of them, others do not. Those that reject Him are consequently left with an unfulfillable void, a God Spot so to speak. People can not tolerate the emptiness in their spirit and will search to find something to fill it. Some choose drugs, some alcohol, some choose Mother Earth, the environment, and holistic health and diet.

They embrace the love of Earth because it corresponds so closely in their hearts to a life giving and loving God. But this god is not the life giving and loving god they are searching for, this god is is false. Followers think they set the rules, when in fact they are commanded to take care of her, this god needs them to DO things for her. This god demands that her devotees make disciples of all men, otherwise, she will die and it will be your fault. Earth does not tolerate dissent or facts that contradict well established doctrines of worship. This god perpetuates crisis to keep her followers in a state of panic and turmoil. What started out as such a beautiful and peaceful way of life begins to consume the disciple, it is no longer comforting to meditate on the beauty of a tree because the capitalist pigs are destroying the air, the soil, and the water and that tree is going to die - unless YOU do something about it.

Enter in the origin of the second member of Mr. and Mrs. Green - you remember, the blow your shit up partner? Well, he's cleaned up his act since the 60's, he learned from the Master Saul Alinsky, and now he wears a suit and a tie. This is the guy in the Garden that whispered into Eve's ear, that God was really not a benevolent Father - God was the oppressor, He's just trying to keep you down! What's He going to do anyway, you need to take some of that power He's been hoarding for Himself. Go ahead, get you some. Yeah, I know He said it was against the law, but who is He anyway? Who says you have to listen to Him? Besides, everybody is always telling you what to do around here, isn't it time you stood up for yourself? After you take this, life will be so much better - you will be like God, knowing, seeing, and being! So out of the perfection of Eden, the Anarchist is born.

Throughout history the Anarchist seeks to destroy and overthrow, with temporal and mild success. The Earth continues with an outward sign of peace and love, but is on many levels becoming angry at the lack of real progress. And one day it happens, Anarchist is walking by and sees the Earth and instead of scoffing and ignoring each other, as they have been for millennium, they wearily fall onto the park bench and heave a sigh of frustration.

The year is 1990, and both are looking a lot worse for the wear. Anarchist has just lost his temporary glory with the fall of Communism and now has no where else to go. The Environmentalist is frustrated because all of the things she has been fighting for are being put into place and she doesn't feel needed anymore. So in mutual misery they sit, each feeding off the others misfortunes and runs of bad luck. Before long, though, they begin to look at each other in a different light. The Environmentalist gazes upon the strength and fire and anger of the Anarchist, this is what she has been missing. Anarchist looks upon the Environmentalist and at last grasps the idea that people in large part are not drawn toward him, but wow, look at her. She's stunning and as a team, they are perfect together.

The soft spoken Earth Lover orders water shut of to the Farmers in the San Joachim Valley to protect the precious delta smelt, while Anarchist stirs up hatred among the poor and displaced farm workers. They wouldn't be in that position if the Capitalist oppressors would just let the water go. The poor people in central California are being beaten with both sides of the same stick and don't even know it.

The lumberjacks in Washington and Oregon are accused by the Earth Child of killing the spotted owl, the Anarchist chains himself to a tree. Together, they destroy the most prosperous and prolific timber industry in the world and they are ready to take on more.

They find the perfect vehicle, a former Vice President. His back ground and education do not make his a traditional figure head, but he is embittered and he is ambitious. He has one thing Mr. and Mrs. Green don't have - International clout. They strike up an alliance. The learn from each other. They put a fresh coat of paint on the movement and reemerge.

Do not loose sight of who is behind this movement! Anarchist is intent on the complete and total destruction of all civil society. Earth embraces dedevelopment and communism, Earth demands of her subjects slavery.

Even more frightening, is Mr. and Mrs. Green have moved into the White House with Mr. and Mrs. Obama. What a fine time they are having, staying up late, plotting the next move described as a green job, Earth has learned her craft well and Anarchist has polished his image so much, you might even invite him to dinner. It looks as if the White House has.

As such, the motivations of all that comes from this movement are foul for a bad tree can not bear good fruit. The radical environmental policies of these groups must be resisted. To not, is to endanger the Republic and the future of this country.

God Bless us and guide us in this treacherous time.
