Obama Just Does Not Have This & That is Sad

Abigail and Dolley readers I have been fascinated by the rise in the polls of the popularity of GWB in recent months.  From the fact that his approval ratings are up 20 points since April, to the Democratic poll that found that in Ohio 50% to 42% would rather GWB be President right now over Obama; all of these signs point to the fact that absence does indeed makes the heart grow fonder.  Liberal commentator, Mark Shields, recently warned Democrats against continuing to vilify GWB as the Boogie Man because he was such a classy former President and a decent guy - it is going to back fire on them and indeed it appears that it has.

So I was cruising around You Tube today and watching interviews with GWB and was drawn especially to the ones he gave as he was just about to leave office.  He is not surly or angry or lecturing about how the American people have turned on him.  He is not defensive or full of condescension toward his detractors.  He does not even seem particularly anxious about his legacy or what people will write about him.  He is pleased with the job that he did and states emphatically when he gets home, he will look in the mirror and be proud.  This man deserves our thanks and our honor for serving his country.

One of the videos I watched was actually the first joint interview that 41 and 43 had ever given and it was with Brit Hume.  Upon observing this, my heart broke.  It broke because of the love and affection between these two men and the foundation for which GWB was drawing to serve with such dignity and honor.  It is a stark contrast to our current President, who is Fatherless.

Obama does not have a Dad to call and get the unconditional love that GWB speaks of that a President needs sometimes.  He did not have a role model or a good mentor to give him a basis or character and foundation.  He is an injured and scarred man who lacks the fundamentals of character to be able to stand within himself and his own character.  It is so very sad and so very scary to realize that the current President is no where near the stature of these two and we are all the worse for the abandonment of him by his father.

Classy

Abigail and Dolley readers know that I am not a big "Rah, Rah" supporter of the GOP, nor am I a huge George W Bush fan.  My feelings on GWB are actually quite conflicted.  I completely disagree with his Neo-Conservative/Progressive policies of global war, expanded government, huge spending, and unsecured Southern Borders.  On the other hand, I believe he IS a good man.  He was a President of his convictions and governed according to those sets of ideals, like them or not.

You always got the sense that he was a man comfortable in his own skin; this is evidenced in his ability to laugh at himself.  It is also manifested in his behavior since leaving office.  He has said recently that he is seeking anonymity and that he is thankful that Cheney has been willing to step forth and defend their policies.  The day after the massacre at Ft. Hood, the Bushs made a quiet trip to the base to visit and comfort the troops.  There was no press, he didn't do it for political reasons, he just did it because it was the right thing to do.  He has remained quiet in spite of overwhelming abuse from the Obama administration, he has taken the high road.

The Bushs have class.  I shudder to think what the Obamas will be like after being booted from office.  If we think that Carter is an aggravation, wait until the Chief Narcissist is rejected by his formerly adoring public, one hopes that the Bush model will be followed.  Based on facts and personality, I do not hold much hope.

So, in conclusion, I believe history will be kinder to George W Bush than the press or the American people were.  I think that while you may disagree with him and his policies he is to be admired for his restraint and dignity upon leaving office.  Toward the end of his Presidency he was reviled and booed on many occasions, he did not deserve that, nor should we have done that to an honorable man who had served his country well.  We can all learn from George W. Bush and we owe him our thanks.

I Am a Conservative, Not a NeoConservative; I Am a Liberal, Not a Progressive

Hmm, as Abigail and Dolley readers know we are constantly refining our positions, investigating our beliefs, and testing our tenants to insure that they conform to logical and linear arguments.  I stumbled upon a debating Democrat this morning who when asked to define what he believed in was articulate, reasoned, logical, and firmly held beliefs based on the wisdom of our Founding Fathers.  So how then could he possibly consider himself a Democrat?  What I discovered was that he considered himself a liberal and thus historically identified with the Democratic Party and had not yet realized that is not who they are anymore.  Conversely, he attacked the conservative writer by bringing up the failures of the Bush Administration obviously assuming that anyone of the conservative mind set must be a defender of GW Bush and a fellow NeoConservative.


It is the Progressives that are running the Dems and the Neo-Cons that are running the GOP - that is what is dividing us politically because the American people are not Progressives or Neo-Cons. Thus, those of us with a conservative mind set view the Progressive agenda with horror and the Dems do the same with the Neo-Cons. The challenge in our discourse is that WE THE PEOPLE are not represented by either of the major Political parties, but are tearing each other apart for things we have perceived the "other" side to believe.

Finally, Something I Can Agree With the President On!

You might not know it from reading this blog, but I actually am quite a peacemaker and strive greatly in my interpersonal relationships to get along with people.  As such, it has been disconcerting to me to constantly be at odds with the President of the United States.  I must constantly examine myself to insure that I am opposing policy and not just the man.  I criticized others for doing that to GWB and refuse to put on partisan blinders that will skew my view of the actions of the President.

Thus, I am encouraged by the latest proposal to guarantee $54 B in loans for new nuclear power plants.  My father, who is a brilliant engineer, worked at a nuclear facility for several years.  He is an ardent supporter of nuclear power and he and I have had many discussions about this subject.  Nuclear power is cost effective, safe, and efficient.  The environmental impact is negligible and because these are loan guarantees and not government spending, I can get behind this measure as a fiscal conservative.

Honestly, not to throw a cold bucket of water on this Kum Bah Yah moment I am having with the President, but I find this move incongruous with the administrations decision earlier this year to close the Yuka Mountain Nuclear waste facility.  The Energy Equivalent to Guantanamo Bay, the Yuka Mountain facility is a hugely expensive (and paid for my you, the American Tax payer for decades) efficient facility to permanent storage of the waste created by nuclear power.  I am republishing a piece that I wrote several months ago when this closing occurred for your information and edification.

The Blame Game

When will it ever end or maybe the better question is, will it ever end?  I am talking about the incessant manner in which the Obama Administration and the Democrats blame everything on "the failed policies of the last eight years."  Because last time I looked, the Democrats have been in control of the congress since 2006 and for the better part of the last century.  Furthermore, Obama has been in office 11 months.  I saw Barack Obama TODAY blame the problems in Afghanistan on "the failed polices of the last eight years."  Let us not forget that Obama himself announced his new Afghanistan policy in March of this year.  After failing to implement the recommendations of his own Generals, he blames someone else.

Today, I saw a Democratic strategist deflect Stu Varney's point blank question on whether it was "American" to tax ANY citizen at the 50% level, which we are rapidly approaching.  The strategist blamed "the failed policies of the last eight years." on their punitive tax plans. It is unbelievable! If I was a psychologist, I am sure there is some type of mental illness that never takes responsibility for its own actions and failures.

I like sports analogies - can you imagine if your favorite team had several bad seasons and the Head Coach was fired.  The new coach campaigned heavily for the job and promised all sorts of miracles and a winning season just around the corner.  At this point in the season they are 0-11 and at every press conference the new coach announces the failures are the responsibility of the old coach.

What about from your kid - what if their teacher last year had been lousy, would you except their bad grades this year to be the sole responsibility of last year's teacher?

I run a branch for my company - that branch was managed by my predecessor for 8 years prior to my arrival.  There was a reason they chose me.  Not once in the year I took over have I blamed the direction of the branch on my predecessor, because its mine.  Whatever happens, its me.

I do not recall one instance, ever, where George W Bush blamed the Clinton Administration for hamstringing the intelligence community to such an extent that we suffered 9/11.  Never once did I hear that from George W Bush.  Say what you will about him, he at least had some class.

Narcissism on Full Display

Barack Obama's Narcissistic Personality Disorder has been on full display this week.  First the insensitive remarks the day of the Ft Hood shootings and secondly his refusal to attend the 20th anniversary celebration of the fall of the Berlin Wall.  Both extremely important events for America - but for Barack Obama?  Umm, not so much.  You see, one of the character traits of a Narcissist is their lack of caring for things and people that don't glorify themselves.

It is in Barack Obama's best interest to downplay the Muslim terrorist actions in Texas, that puts him in a bad light - for his weakness on the military, perhaps for his Muslim name, and it shines the laser beam of public attention on the continuing War on Terror - those things clearly are not about him or good for him so why acknowledge them.  Now, if the shooter was a Christian guy, wearing a pro-life Tshirt, and a copy of a Rush Limbaugh book by his bedside?  You can bet your bottom dollar he'd be all over this thing and "jumping to conclusions" be damned.

The symbolic victory of Western free markets and capitalism, the end of the Cold War, and the liberation of half a Continent is as important to the world as July 4th is to us Americans.  But it doesn't shine a light on Barack Obama, so he isn't going.  It actually does the opposite; it highlights his predecessor's achievements (can't blame Bush for that one...), it points out the flaws in a system that Obama would like to see return, and it calls to mind those nasty Tea Partiers protesting and celebrating in the street.

If it isn't about Barack Obama and what he wants, he's doesn't want any part of it.  How's that for change.

On a side note, George and Laura Bush went to Ft. Hood yesterday, but requested that they not be photographed or recorded, they were there to lend their support to the hurting community and families.

Liberal Rantings or More Tactics?

This is a tactic used with great effectiveness on both sides, but perhaps with even greater cunning on the left than the right. I say this not as a partisan but because I firmly believe the Left does not hold itself accountable to any standard other than their own. Whilst the Right, must answer to the Christians and if they are Christians themselves, well then they have to answer to the Lord. Make no mistake, all will one day "give an account of their actions and deed", but the ultimate and just judgment of the Lord is not the subject of this article (though I must confess to a certain peace and comfort that comes with recalling WHO is actually in charge).

Now, I may have misspoke, because it seems the Liberals do hold themselves to a certain standard, that laid out by Saul Alinsky, (if you are unfamiliar with this book dedicated to Satan and studied as gospel by Obama, see my numerous blogs on the suject). Saul Alinsky advised "make the other side live up to their own standards"- thus, the liberals can repeat a lie in a Talking Points that permeates the media and after hammering it in day after day, year after year, it becomes "truth".

Mark my words - Socialism will be tied as a code word for racism. I have heard it numerous times in the last few days, liberals espousing the view that those calling Obama and his plans socialism are actually really wanting to call him a N#*%$#@. Normal thinking Americans always reject the lie upon first hearing, but repeated enough times.....

The protesters are "mobs" of uninformed red neck racists. The protesters are not real Americans. The DNC machine is spouting these lies on an hourly basis and they will get away with much of it, too - unless the media begins doing its job. There are some stirrings of this in the market, perhaps the Fat Lady will not quite get to sing yet.

So I did a social experiment today, I must confess I reminded myself of a little child being forced to choke down something truly unappealing, but my fortitude was strong and I listened to some liberal talk radio and even read a few articles on ABC news and Salon.com. It was truly amazing, okay I admit it the ABC article was a link on Drudge and the Salon.com was a Facebook post by a conservative friend, the articles were actually encouraging because even the liberal media is starting to call the health care and domestic debacle as they see it. The talk radio was strictly my own doing and it was torturous.

The mocking of the people who hold views other than the ultra liberal was amazing. The host so deluded she said that people are upset about the health care plan because for the last 8 years the GWB administration scared the American people so bad they no longer trust the government. I swear, I am not making it up. This being said of a nation that was founded in rebellion to a tyranical government and king. George Washington said government is not benevolence, government is force and the Founders knew that when they constructed our forms of government. Ronald Reagan said the scariest words you could ever hear are, "I am from the government and I am here to help."

So no matter how many times they repeat the lie, it is still a lie. Remember that America.

Hollywood - Your True Colors and Showing Through

Maybe it is just me, but I am sick of Hollywood.  Decades of contempt held for the American People and our way of life is oozing through in all they do.  Abigail and Dolley Blog readers may recall my last foray into this subject, Not Too Smart where we dealt with the risks of going public with your political beliefs and how you can alienate half of the country by espousing your pseudo-intellectual, loony beliefs.  This post, however, will deal with their complete and utter rejection of all that Americans hold dear and one must wonder, how long will they continue to go blindly down a path that holds financial doom in its forecast.

I preview the upcoming movie releases and think to myself, ho hum.  I rent DVD's and find my self sighing at the undertones of anti-Americanism that bleeds through.  For example, we watched the Soloist with Robert Downey Jr and Jamie Fox last week.  Robert Downey Jr is a LA Times reporter looking for a story and lamenting the downturn in the newspaper industry.  Jamie Fox is a gifted musician who while attending Julliard is struck down by Schizophrenia and is living on the streets of LA.  I got half way through the movie.

It was well acted, shot, directed, and edited.  It was the underlying hopelessness of a world and a character without God that was completely off putting.  The reporter sees beauty and life in watching the musician play and enjoy music; how shallow and sad.  Of course we have throw in our anti-American messages, while walking through the newsroom they play clips of George W Bush speaking and then follow up with pictures of dead children.  It is inferred that if there was just more money and less discrimination, the street people would not be on the street.

Were these things intentional?  No, probably not, but at the end of the day if you eat a steady diet of American and Capitalism hatred day after day and year after year it will begin to seep out in all that you do.  I believe this is what has happened to Hollywood.  No, starting with the derelict Baby Boomers and Jane Fonda we have been entertained by a group of folks who hate us.  Paradoxically, it is these folks who need us, not the other way around.  The capitalist system that they so despise will eventually bring them to their senses, when people stop going to see their movies - that is unless the government so determines that Hollywood is too big to fail.

Can You Imagine if Geoge W Bush did this? Part 2

Can you imagine if GWB had, in the face of a Terrorist attack on the largest military base in the world, opened his nationally televised address with 3 minutes of light hearted banter?

Can you imagine during that light hearted banter if he had mistakenly referred to an audience member as a Medal of Honor winner, when the man was a Medal of Freedom winner, who GWB had given the honor to three months before?

Listen closely, you will hear the media uproar, wait for it..... {{Cricket}}  {{Cricket}}  Oh, sorry that was wishful thinking.

Shall I write up the piece?  Yeah, sure, what the heck?

In another display of ignorance and callousness, GWB in the face of the worst tragedy of terrorism since 9/11 joked with his audience while a grieving nation watched.  The nation looks to the President in times of crisis to calm and comfort us, and what did we get from this bumbling Texas buffoon?  I will let you, jokes and shout outs.  As further evidence of his lack of intellect the President referred to Joe Crow as a Medal of Honor winner.  The Medal of Honor is the highest military honor in the country and is reserved for military personnel who display outstanding courage and honor in the face of battle.  Joe Crow is not a Medal of Honor winner and should not have had the military's highest honor attributed to him by the President especially in light of the military attack just hours before.  No, Joe Crow is a Medal of Freedom winner and GWB should have known this, since three months ago, he himself had personally awarded the medal.  What an idiot.

How's That New Sensative America Working for You Now, World?

After years of unabashed and undeserved Bush hating, the World rejoiced at the election of Obama.  But nine months in I am wondering, How's that workin' out for ya?  Chaos in our own hemisphere, Cuba, Chavez, and Honduras - the President of France thinks Obama is a pansy, the Germans have just gone conservative, and Iran just flipped the world the bird with Russia and China egging them on like gang members who know the new Principal doesn't have the balls to do anything about it. The US Dollar is in the toilet, we've started a trade dispute with China, more Mexicans have been killed on the Southern border than US soldiers in the War on Terror.  All under Obama's watch.  I think he needs to give some more speeches.

Maybe old George wasn't so bad after all.
